National Minimum Wage: note that this increases with effect from 1
October 2010, and that 21 year olds will now get the full adult rate. A new rate
for apprentices has also been introduced. See: key statistics
Equality Act - the main provisions WILL now take effect on 1 October
2010, as originally planned. See: Equality Act.
Default retirement age - the Government has announced that this will go from
October 2011.
Pension age: the Government is consulting on increasing the State
Pension age to 66, earlier than originally proposed. See:

Vetting and Barring Scheme - the implementation of the next stage
of the VBS (for those who work with
children and vulnerable adults) has been put on hold, pending a Government review.

Absence statistics: the latest CBI/Pfizer survey shows the lowest
rate of absence since the survey began in 1987 - an average employee absence

Dismissal: some interesting cases have confirmed that resignations cannot be
backdated (even if both parties wish to do this); and that failure to follow a
contractual disciplinary procedure may lead to breach of contract claims
